The Somali lunch / by Jedidiah

Now, I was told that in some African cultures it is rude to reject an offer of food or drink.  So, when I was offered some lunch while having a tea at the Somali restaurant at the Marsa Open Centre yesterday, I could not say no.  I knew it would probably be a meat-based dish - I had witnessed a number of men chowing down on large hunks of flesh at nearby tables - and this posed a small problem since I am vegetarian (well, pescetarian if you want to get specific).  However I told myself that I would happily eat whatever was brought to me and eat it all.  It would have been rude not to.  So I did and this is what it looked like:

On the plus side, my vegetarianized body was so energized by this high-protein extravaganza that I did not require food for the rest of the day.  I was also able to experience what was probably deliciously prepared Somali cuisine.
