While near Lake Naivasha, we also hiked up Mount Longonot which is a volcano that last erupted in the 1860s. The hike to the main crater rim takes about 1.5 hours and from there you have the option of walking around the entire edge which takes another 3 hours (we only walked part way around).
The view from the rim was truly amazing. Steam jets spewed from the steep side-walls and the dense forest on the crater floor below looked like some kind of primeval, forbidding paradise. Craving even more photos of Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha? Well, just click here!
